Cloud FinOPs - IT Analyst
Technology is not everything for HORNBACH's success and at the same time, HORNBACH's success is not possible without technology. The FinOps approach brings together Finance, IT and DevOps teams to jointly oversee the economic consumptions and reduce the total cost of cloud deployments across the organization and multiple clouds. By applying FinOps principles in a cross-functional team, we manage and optimize cloud costs. Setting up governance procedures, training the teams and getting the financial data out of the silos is FinOps mission.
You’ll have the opportunity to bring your Cloud Engineering expertise to a next level while extending your skills in the area of FinOps within our enterprise architecture team.
- Cost Optimization: Evaluate Cloud usage for cost reduction opportunities and implement automated solutions and lifecycle management with DevOps and FinOps tools and methods
- Financial Governance: Establish spending policies and automate precise cost forecasts. Detecting and managing cost anomalies. Create optimized savings and commitment plans while als working together finance, operations, and technology teams
- Collaboration: Work closely with Infrastructure, Development and Data teams to integrate automated FinOps practices and support cost-efficient Cloud practices.

- Continuous Improvement: Automate assessment and refinement of FinOps processes, implementing innovative solutions for streamlined cost management workflows.
- Cloud Usage Optimizations: Analyzing cloud usage patterns and trends to identify areas for optimization
- Cloud Rate Optimizations: Recommending changes to cloud service usage, pricing models, and purchasing options
- Policy and Best Practices: Create and automate FinOps policies and guidelines as well as conduct training sessions on cost management best practices while also establishing a FinOps culture inside the enterprise
- Be an active part within in FinOps communities e.g. FinsOps Foundation
Professional Competence
- Cloud computing expertise: A strong understanding of cloud computing services, including cloud infrastructure, software, and platform as a service (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS), as well as experience working with major cloud service providers such as Azure and Google Cloud. A strong understanding about cloud pricing models, costs optimizations and financial tracking cabilities within Google/Azure.
- Experience with FinOps practices: Experience implementing and maintaining FinOps practices and methodologies is also important, including knowledge of cost optimization frameworks such as AWS Well-Architected Framework, and experience using FinOps tools and platforms.
- Financial management skills: Knowledge of financial management principles and experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. This includes experience in financial modeling and cost analysis.
- Data analysis skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning. Experience with SQL, Python, R, and other data analysis tools is also important.
- Collaboration and communication skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as FinOps analysts need to work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, to achieve cost optimization goals.
- GreenOps and Sustainability expertise: Knowledge and expertise of environmental impact of cloud usage while integrating GreenOps practices into cloud operations, strategic views and decisions.
- Knowledge of industry regulations: Familiarity with industry regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2 is also important, as they may impact cloud usage and cost optimization strategies.
